Is the voice inside your head… your parents’ voice?

Not every thought in your head is truly yours.

In work, life, and especially in high-pressure environments, we often carry voices that aren’t ours. Echoes of our parents, bosses, colleagues, or even society’s expectations. That inner critic pushing you to do more, or the cautious voice warning you not to rock the boat? They might be reflections of past messages you absorbed long ago.

The challenge? To notice whose voice you’re really listening to and find yours.

Are you responding to your own intuition and values, or someone else’s script?

When you start to untangle these layers, you create space to hear your own authentic voice: the one that knows your strengths, respects your limits, and speaks your truth.

In the corporate world and beyond, finding and trusting that voice is a powerful act of self-leadership and resilience.

So next time your inner voice shows up, pause.

Ask:“Is this really me? Or an echo I’ve carried too long?”

Then choose what you want to say to yourself instead.

Real growth begins when you reclaim your inner dialogue.
